Virgin Island Fossil Coral Lizard
Depicted sitting on a Sea Grape leaf, this Anole Lizard is looking carefully up at his audience, "checking out the scene". A cautious character, he's prepared either to wait it out, or skitter away off this leaf to a safer vantage point. He's about life size, for a "teenage" lizard, in case you're wondering. Although it's unlikely that any lizard would really tuck his tail in so neatly as ours, this pose does make for a pretty picture on the leaf. Both the lizard and the leaf were found in the artist's garden.

Virgin Island Fossil Coral Figurines are not painted...
They are shot through with color as they are made. Every figurine made is unique. The technique of the artisan in laying in the colors, the batch of white fossil coral prepared for use, the temperature, the humidity, all affect how the colors will flow. No two will ever be exactly the same. All our pieces are all individually made. The Coral Studio employs no mass production techniques, only skilled craftsmen.
